I have always kept an eye out for a 73 in 22 long. I had one once but it had such a bad bore, I couldn’t hit a milk jug at 25 feet. I did find a nice 73 in 22 long the other day and I paid dearly for it. It is a good looking gun and has a shiny bore! I need some 22 long ammo for it…

It is quite common for 22 cal 73’s to have the elevator modified for other length of 22 shells because they could not readily get longs so you need to check the elevator to see if the stop has been changed. Some 73’s were adjustable for long or shorts from the factory.
