You must mean entertaining if you aren’t bidding! I can’t imagine any bidder feels anything other than frustration in this mosh pit of an auction.
Both. Mostly for what I’m not bidding on, but, also, it doesn’t require one to bid impulsively.
If anyone thought that, as suggested, the website would drive folks away, you are sadly mistaken. I bid on about ten boxes of ammunition, all antique stuff except one modern box of .275 Holland & Holland Magnum ammunition and I was outbid on every one of them, sometimes substantially!

I guess everyone has their opinion on whether they like it or not. Auction closed.my time at 3:45 AM. I definitely wasn’t staying Awake to watch it end. It’s a max bid and cross your fingers deal for those on the East Coast.
Agreed, this auction certainly favors the West Coast. Sucks for the rest of us east of the Mississippi. I also agree the format didn’t seem to keep anyone away. The bidding was robust and I found zero great deals but a few fair ones. The items I watched drew enough bidders to ensure they traded for at a minimum a fair price and in many cases a nice premium for the seller. Still hate the format but if I was on the West Coast I might like the advantage. One can only hope they at least add a Watch list or favorites feature!

OfflineI live on the West coast and still hate the format. I put in my final bids and go to bed at my normal time. I check my account the next morning and see what I may have got. I did get some books. Lost out on the ammo and a rifle. Eric Ward is not about to change the format.
I went to an auction today and didn’t get anything there either.

I didn’t win anything… the hunt continues.
Ben-
Best I can tell you’re ahead of the game in recent weeks so maybe not “winning” anything at this auction isn’t a loss. Gonna be some good stuff at Cody.

What is the general consensus as to the prices antique/vintage ammunition brought in this past auction? I was outbid on several lots. I thought stuff went high…or maybe I’m just out of the loop.
Wards must draw a ton of bidders as I didn’t find any good much less great deals. A got a few market rate deals and lost quite a few that I felt the winners overpaid for. The ammo I won was just market and maybe a tad over with the BP. Other stuff was just a laughable premium. A 5 panel Winchester store frame with no signs went for over $1900 with the BP and I bought one in better condition with the signs still in them on Live Auctioneers the next night for $800. They definitely had a lot of Winchester stuff but none of it was cheap or at least the stuff I was watching!

Now I know why I’ve never purchased a gun in an online auction
Ted-
I understand completely! I think there are some opportunities there but it’s the only spectator sport I follow these days.

OfflineMy friend had sent them a Winchester .22 caliber special rifle a few months previously, and it was before they decided to change their format, or at least inform him, upon him contacting them. With that said, the Auction previously had a similar model in the same rare configuration, and limited production of only, less than, a few thousand made, as a Pre War early .22 caliber rifle, and a sought after configuration.
The rifle having a Pre Auction estimate of, $2,000-3,000.00, it sold for a grand. Less than half, and maybe one third of the estimated value that the one listed in their previous auction, so there’s deals to be found if you have the patience to deal with they’re pictures and sometimes lacking information. IMO!
