Got mine a few days ago. Took a quick look that’s all.
Slacker !!
Yep, after Vegas I just can’t catch up. I spent most of the day yesterday swapping out my old barrel and replacing it with the new one. Then spent an hour or so figuring out that the new chamber is exactly like the old one. It will make loading easier to start doing load development. That was after I had the truck smog tested and dealt with the dentist.

Got mine today but I’m late for my nap. Also got gun parts in my mailbox and another gun on my workbench. Looking like a busy afternoon, maybe tomorrow!

OfflineGot my Winter 2025 today, enjoyed Bert’s article on the .22 Caliber Muskets. Great pictures and text, a 10 page education, WOW.
The 1873 .22 Rimfire, McCracken Research Library heat treating recipes, Bert’s article on the .22 Caliber Muskets, and all the others make this issue one to save for future reference.
My hats off to the Collector Magazine Production crew Brad, Rob, Mike, Sean, and everyone taking the time to write these quality articles. Thank You. T/R

Thanks for the great feedback, and I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed reading it.
I have several more articles in the works, but the next few articles will be a detailed analysis of the Model 1897 production history, and then I will get back to the lever-guns (Models 53, 55, and 65). I am also nearing completion of the detailed survey of the surviving Single Shot records (all 110,000 serial numbers for which records exist), and I will put a lot more effort into finishing my future reference book detailing the Single Shot production.

How many issues is it going to take?
How many 85’s letter with a scope?

I do not know the answer to your first question.
I do not have a total count of the how many Single Shots were factory scoped, but it was at least a few hundred. The most common was a Winchester A5, followed by the Winchester B series (B3, B4, & B5), and then Stevens Telescopes. Once I finish the records survey, I will have a better answer.

OfflineReceived the Winter 2025 in the mail yesterday. Spent the evening reading all the articles (not done yet). Enjoyed the article by Louis Luttrell on the Model 70 Gopher Specials. It brought back memories of the one I owned and let go years ago. Still have the Catalog # 15.
Sorry about the position of the picture.Dick

OfflineI also received my copy today, and am excited to jump into it, as I always like to do a scan of the magazine, before I get into the meat and potatoes! LOL!
What a good looking and well put together tasteful collector magazine.
My hats off also, as TR said, to the Collector Magazine Production crew of Brad, Rob, Mike, Sean, and everyone taking the time to write these quality articles.

I saw an 85 with B5 scope and the Letter in Vegas. I don’t have any other info. I know I should have written it down.

There are a substantial number of the Schuetzen Rifles that letter with Winchester scopes, and surprisingly, a fair number of 2nd Variation Winder Muskets that letter with them. It will not surprise me if the total number of Single Shots factory fitted with a scope is something close to (300).

OfflineOnce again, I’m really enjoying the articles and write ups. Several do appeal to me and to what I like to collect, as the W. M-1873/22 cal. article by Pete Hynard, has some very good information in it.
Dave Bond has a very interesting and documented article on a Winchester M-1873 rifle.
Along with Bert’s, informative article on the M-1885 S.S. .22 CAL. muskets.
It’s very interesting to see the McCracken research Library article.
Besides the rest of the very entertaining information and useful advertising in it.
Thanks again to all who make it happen.
If you’re a Lurker and aren’t a member, you’re truly missing out. So much more to see and read, than meets the eye. IMHO!!!
