I’m by no means an expert on anything Winchester but I love reloading and I love shooting old Winchesters. Many of you reload; some are interested but hesitant, or maybe just not aware of what it takes to make your own ammo. As a competitive shooter I’ve reloaded hundreds of thousands of pistol rounds and as a collector and caster I’ve loaded many thousands of rifle and pistol/carbine rounds for some of the rifles we love. I’ll never consider myself an expert but I know enough to get someone started (or at least interested) and will provide enough information to get a new reloader off to a safe start. I do a fair bit of casting and have a daunting collection of moulds, sizing tools and other paraphernalia so could hit the highlights of that subject as well in another article. Could also address tailoring loads to older rifles with less than optimal bores. Some of you have read my posts on the above subjects and know that sometimes the subject of the thread cannot be adequately addressed in the forum format.
Recent events have drawn many new people to reloading and collectors are part of that migration. I’ll never claim to be a reloading expert or more than passable wordsmith but I feel I can communicate the basic concept well enough to convince folks to buy a reloading manual (or three) and learn more about the subject.
Shooting the rifles we enjoy is a dimension of our hobby that I enjoy immensely, I can’t imagine not being able to shoot the Winchesters I collect. Fortunately many cartridges that were not available a few years ago are now available if a bit hard to find or very expensive. Others are the exclusive realm of the reloader.
What say you? Do I need to get to work writing a reloading article?

What is wrong with you… you haven’t finished it yet ??
Looks like I’ll have a little time to start on it this weekend. Heavy rains have taken “mowing” off this weekend’s to-do list as the pontoon attachments for my riding mower were apparently delivered to the wrong house.

I been working on one for the 38-55 for a while. Some of the trials and tribulations of loading for that cartridge, plus how it performs on game. just need more time to dedicate to it.

Chris-
Yes, you mentioned that in San Marcos. I think that’s a great idea. We may need to compare notes, I’ve dabbled a bit with the 38-55 and 375 Winchester. I think your experiences with the 38-40 would make for an interesting article as well.
