I have a 1892 SRC, SN 4464xx, made about 1908. There is a sticker on the receiver stating that it had a “jugged” chamber.
I measured the chamber and it seemed OK. I loaded it with a new Starline case that had been formed from a 32-20 case. the case was loaded
with a 65 gr. lead bullet over 3 gr Trail Boss, over a WSP primer. When fired the case was ruptured, case neck split and in general the case was destroyed!
I decided that I could re barrel or have the old barrel re-lined. I tend to think that the barrel is a bit “thin” to be relined. Therefore I’ve been
trying to find some place that would make a Carbine barrel for the 25-20 WCF, in 4140, with a 1:12 twist with a slight throat for cast bullets.
I sure would appreciate some help locating a barrel for the Carbine!
Thanks a lot!

Bob,
You are correct in your assumption that the carbine barrel is too thin to be relined.
While a carbine barrel can be made, it would be cost prohibitive. I recommend looking for a used barrel on EBay or at gun shows.
Looking at your screen name, I suspect that you are an Infantry guy

Hello Bob,
Mike is the best guy for inout regarding the barrel. Could I please get the full SN and some detail photos of the stamped writing on the rifle for my research survey of the 1892’s? Thanks so much for the effort.
