Is there a gap width minimum for an 1886 Takedown. I believe the gap in my 86 is a bit to wide as the result of the prior owner adjusting the takedown extension screws too far out. I can just about see a little daylight mostly at the bottom of the receiver.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ?

The adjuster screws are turned in just enough so the barrel gets tight when its lined up. The screws push the metal out so you will get a gap and I have never heard of a limit to the gap. I have seen people put shim stock between there when they didn’t know about the screws which does the same thing.
