Hello the Fire,

I’m looking for a 1873 Winchester 1st Model Dust Cover Spring.

Does anyone know where I MIGHT find one? If anyone knows PLEASE let me know.

Oh one more thing I’m also looking for a Model 55 (semi auto .22) dust cover and pin, any help would appreciated.

 Thanks,

 cba

You might check with Jack First Gun Parts (605-343-9544).  They list a mortise cover spring in their catalog but don’t show a picture.

For the plastic loading gate on the Model 55 –

Jack First also lists them 605-343-9544, the part # is “1055 Cover”.

Out Back Gun Parts sometimes has them also 812-945-0480.

I looked at Jack First Gun Parts web site and the mortise dust cover springs are the ones for 2nd and 3rd models not the first model guns.

Correct, but their banner across the top of the page says that they have over 50,000 parts and to call if you don’t see yours.  Their web page is still under construction as they only list a few items.  For instance, they don’t have an 1886 Winchester page but their catalog lists about 90 items for that model.  Can’t hurt to call.

Thanks JWA,

Jack First had the Model 55 dust cover. Ordered this part from Outback months ago and it has never showed up.

Still looking for a 1st model 1873 dust cover spring.

 Thanks again,

Following this thread. I have two 1st model ’73’s and one oval thumbprint dustcover but none of the original screws or stops and springs. Would love to even see decent photos of original parts to fabricate my own replacement pieces.

Ken,

Sorry about this late answer to your “73” 1st Model Dust Cover and spring.

It took me about 5+ years to find an original dust cover spring, screw and stop for my 1st Model “73”. I finally after much searching found it on Ebay.

I found a REALLY GREAT REPO Dust Cover there to, I believe the gentleman was from Michigan.
