I noticed today the fore end on my 1907 SRC 1894 is not as wide as my two other 1915 SRC’s. Can anyone advise if there was a change to the fore end width at some point. The difference is more than shrinkage due to age. I checked a friends 1905 SRC & it’s the same width also as my 1907(narrower) than my 1915’s. It’s very noticeable with them all side by side.

How does it fit at each end?  If real loose it has been replaced.  When wood shrinks it shrinks across the grain.  Stocks/forearms, if they shrink, will do so from top to bottom.  Not side to side or in length.  Sure maybe a little, but less than 1/16″.  How well does the forearm wood color and grain match the stock?

I don’t know if the dimensions were changed at some point.

Fits fine on top but bottom & sides have the gap. It has a swivel barrel band now but I’ve tried a couple other period correct barrel bands, still has the gaps.

Will post a pic shortly.

Ordered a forestock on EBay for $45 & it fit & matched the gun & wood perfectly. Very happy. No gaps in rear barrel band now.
