Does anyone have experience using RIG in a bore for long-term storage?

Thanks,

Brad

I pull a boresnake soaked in RIG down the bore prior to long term storage.  Been doing it the last 40 years with no problem.  Once a year or so I refresh the coating.  If I decide to shoot the rifle I make sure I swab out the bore prior to firing.  I don’t know if firing a round with a little grease in the bore would hurt anything but I don’t really want to find out.

I have been using less RIG lately and more EEZOX.  It is a little easier to apply and remove and seems to hold up out here in the dry desert climate just as well as the RIG with less mess (but more smell).

Thanks, just the kind of information I was looking for.  I thought it would work well for guns I don’t shoot very often.
