I recently became the custodian of a very nice 1954 vintage Model 94 in 30WCF that once belonged to a mentor who likely planted the collector seed in my immature brain more than a few years ago. Something about it bothered me so I dug out a very similar carbine (made in 1960) for comparison. I put both rifles in the rack and had a good laugh when I got a good look at them. When I bought the later rifle several years back I decided to shoot it so I installed a modern Williams receiver sight to take advantage of its apparent accuracy. It seems James taught me well, I put together a near twin to the rifle he put together over 25 years ago.
Got another chuckle today, I noticed the fore end barrel band was on backwards on one of the twins. I was surprised James hadn’t noticed. Then I realized it was the younger sister (my 1960 carbine!) that was assembled incorrectly. Apparently the earlier kitchen table gunsmith wannabe bent the tiny screw so I had to do a bit of straightening. All better now. (Pic was taken before I noticed the screw.)

At least y’all didn’t have to see the other ugly old hog over the fireplace. My answer would have been the two empty slots in the rack. I like a well-pressed shirt and I’m too tight to pay someone to do it!
