What is the over all length of a 22 hornet stock, I have a pachmyer pad on mine and am wondering if the stock was cut or the pad was simply added as a LOP issue… the work is flawless

The standard rifle stocks were the same length regardless of the specific cartridge chambering.  A Pachmayr recoil pad installed on a Model 70 22 Hornet is 99.999% likely an aftermarket alteration.

I personally fail to comprehend why anyone would think a recoil pad was necessary to tame the savage recoil generated by the mighty 22 Hornet cartridge!

Top of the plate has a small point or tang inlet into the heel of the stock; wood is not cut flat, in other words. If you don’t see that, it’s been cut, which is a shame.  However, I’ve seen pads even on Model 52s.
