Years ago I bought a M1895 Winchester Musket (19,xxx).  After I got it cleaned up I put a krag factory round in it and found it had a ringed chamber.  Extraction was near impossible.  So I had Turnbull Mfg replace the barrel and then I found a second problem.  That problem is three rounds inserted in the magazine chamber correctly but when I put in a fourth and a fifth cartridge the noses are not lifted high enough to chamber the respective rounds.  I figured out the carrier cam lever is not lifting the carrier cradle high enough on the last two rounds.  So through a little parts research and head scratching I found the carrier, carrier cam lever, and the carrier cradle need to be stamped “A” for .30-40 Krag.  I was able to find a cam lever with an “A” on it and it matched the one on the rifle.  The carrier on the other hand has a “B” stamped on it which I have found means .30-06.

The question I have is do any of your folks know where I can find an “A” stamped carrier for my musket?

Best regards,
