Picked up a nice little Model 1873 SRC. In the process of getting ready to dissemble it the sling ring pulled out. Is this common? What is the fix? My first SRC.

Thanks

Kirk,

So the staple pulled out of the receiver?

Kirk.   You may as well do it properly.  Take the bottom tang out,  put the staple back in place,  hold staple firmly in against receiver.  Now put the end of a 1/4″ punch against the forward leg of the staple and bump forward. Only one leg of staple needs doing. Staple should extend through through frame by about 1/16″  You could put some Locktite on it but not needed.    Cheers Eric

Thanks all,

Yes the staple came out. I am going to dissemble the gun today to clean it. So I am going to try Eric’s  punch fix as I think I understand the mechanics of the solution.

Cheers

Kirk
