For those of you who are interested, I have found an on-line application for keeping an accurate inventory and maintenance log for all you collectable firearms. It has a lot of useful features and is pretty inexpensive for all you get. You should all take a few minutes and check it out. You can find it a https://www.yourgunlocker.com. I highly recommend it.
Is this your own site?

Call me crazy…………It’s web based – big red flag IMHO.
Nope, you are not crazy. Like you, I would never consider using a web based “cloud” to store the information on my firearm collection. The potential for bad things to happen is just too great. Accordingly, I personally do NOT recommend using said product.
For those who can use Microsoft Office, Excel is a wonderful tool for tracking all aspects of your collection. I have use it for nearly 20-years.

I just have a book and write in it. No hard drive to crash.
I looked at the web site, it is owned by Art Handy

Bert,
I could not agree with you more. Excel is a fantastic tool for this type of application.

I suppose maybe I’m a little more tech oriented than a lot of you, but I use an application called “Home Inventory” on MacOS to track not only my firearms, but I have separate catalogs for other items in my home. The app will allow you to walk around the house and enter items from your iPhone. The big advantage here is that not only do I have the data on my firearms, with customized fields for each catalog, but I can include pictures, receipts, relative documents you guys have directed me to, etc. I’ve used Excel and other things in the past (and can import and export to and from that and other formats) but there’s nothing like looking up the data on a rifle in my catalog and having photographs of the rifle, roll marks, features, condition, as well as the paperwork that got it to me, receipts on what I paid and from where, etc.
I’m not against paper and pencil, and keep my C&R bound book as such, but there’s something to be said for a digital inventory.
That said, I wouldn’t depend on a public service. My application keeps it’s database local, however I DO place that database in a location that is encrypted and backed up to another location anytime I make a change. Paper and pencil are nice, but if, God forbid, a disaster should occur, I can access my database, decrypt it and have everything I need for insurance, etc.
The other thing to consider is the format of the database. It is a common format that can easily be recovered should the host application go away.
Things to consider…

I am disappointed with this intentionally deceitful posting. Just that negative character point alone will keep me from “checking it out” or recommending it.
Kudos to the guys for flushing out the truth.

This topic was hashed over just a few months ago but I’ll re-post what I said back then:
I use NMCollector Software JE Edition (http://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/downloads/). It’s FREE and all the data is resident on my hard drive, including PHOTOS.
I’m guessing the topic only came up again because Art Handy was trying to sell his own software on this site.

I’m very much tech-challenged but I purchased a firearms records management system from TMT Enterprises anyway. I also purchased ballistics software and load records software but haven’t taken the time to learn how to use them yet. And no, not associated with the company but I’ve spoken with him on another forum on several occasions. Good guy, just wish I was smart enough to make full use of his products or give a meaningful review.
