I bought the Browning parts to replace the rebound hammer and non-half cock trigger assembly in my Winchester Mirkou 1886 in 45-70.

The hammer and the trigger arrived very quickly from Midwest Gun Works.

I was lead to believe from various articles on the internet that these parts were "drop in"………….No Way Jose!

I had to cut a slot in the trigger with a Dremel tool to clear the lever safety. It wasn’t a particularly difficult job once I figured it out. But it did take steady hands and two cut-off wheels to complete. Then the rear of the trigger needed to be carefully ground to mate with the lever safety.

Now my 1886 has a half cock safety and no rebound hammer and the trigger pull is lighter but with plenty of hammer fall……Nice!

If there is interest, I’ll do a write up with pictures and post on my web site.

Let me know…..
