Hello all,
I have a 94, s/n 945116, that has a worn out lower tang. It’s the two ears or ledges the locking block interacts with. When you work the action the locking block wants to fall out of the receiver. I purchased a new old lower tang from Old Arms of Idaho and it fixed the locking block problem, action works great but the tang, stock, and finger lever don’t fit/match up like the original.
my question is, are there different styles or variations of lower tang’s I should be looking for for my rifle? The one I bought looks exactly the same, has the extra screw for the hammer spring tension.
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Chad,
Swapping parts between guns often requires some fitting. When Winchester originally manufactured and assembled your Model 94 (July 1922), all of the parts you mention were hand finished for optimum fit & function.
