I recall years ago seeing this rifle and it intrigued me because it had had a Winchester belt hook mounted to the left side of the receiver.  I hadnt really thought about this accessory for years until I asked some folks at the Cody show if they had ever seen one.  To make a long story short, I did some searching tonight on the net and found (I think) the rifle I saw years ago with the belt hook.

Here is the link to a more recent 2010 auction where it was listed

http://www.icollector.com/Unique-Winchester-Semi-Deluxe-Model-1894-Extra-Lightweight-Takedown-Lever-Action-Rifle_i9386375

It would be interesting to know the mounting screw spacing (if similar to that seen for later receiver mounted sights).  Im also curious to know if and when it shows up in any of the sale catalogs.  It must not have been that popular, this is the only one I have ever seen.  The site doesnt mention a letter so it is not known if it shows up in the factory ledger.

Just thought it was a cool Winchester accessory and to find if someone may have seen any others out there.

Chris,

Wow… that is something completely new for me. I have never seen a belt hook listed in any of the catalogs that I have… has anyone else seen one?

Thanks for posting it,
Bert

It does not look like its been on that gun for long. I don’t see wear like it was used or lack of wear where its should be protected.

Not sure about the wear. I haven’t looked that closely–hard to see on my phone other than the scuffs on the outside of the hook.  I think the rifle may be in a letterable range if I remember right. Be interesting to know if it letters with the belt hook.

I got to looking at the pics and what I thought was wear on the high point of the belt hook may only be the reflection from light.  I did notice that the takedown ring and receiver next to it on that side was a little more worn than the other side but that could just be from normal hand wear at the carry point.  Cool accessory none the less.
