My 75 Winchester only had target blocks on it when I acquired it. I wanted to add target sights so I purchased a Lyman 57e. It fits fine but (even al the way up) it sits so low I can’t get my cheek down on it. What would be the correct sight? It’s an early 50s rifle with the heavy barrel and target stock. Also, what would then be the correct front sight? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
I don’t think the M75 has a standard bbl. unless you count the light Sporter bbl. There are no standard sights for the M75 series. You could order them with many sight combinations to suit the owner, or order the rifle sightless, and install your own. Usually, they were not shipped with scope bases unless ordered that way. Yeah, where is JWA when you need him? BTW, I have three targets and two Sporters that may be up for sale soon. Big Larry

Sorry, been out with a nasty Covid variant with some ugly side effects but over it finally and back to work.
For the Model 75 Target there were 7 different catalog numbers with the sole difference being the sight package, additionally the G7501R had the sight package changed twice during production which results in a total of 9 different “correct” sight packages.
The G7505R was equipped with the Lyman 57E/57EW sight however that sight package was only used on rifles equipped with the “special low comb” stock. All of the other variants had the “telescope height” high comb stock.
G7501R1 | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Winchester 99A Front Sight, Winchester 84A Extension Sight |
G7501R2 | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Winchester 105A Front Sight, Lyman 58E Rear Sight |
G7501R3 | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Winchester 105A Front Sight, Redfield 75HW Rear Sight |
G7505R | Model 75 Target | Winchester 93B front sight, Lyman 57E rear sight |
G7521R | Model 75 Target | 8X Scope, No Sights (Blank in Front Dovetail) |
G7525R | Model 75 Target | Without Sights (sight blank or screw plugs installed) |
G7527R | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Vaver 1175 Front Sight, Vaver 3875 Rear Sight. |
G7537R | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Lyman 77 Front Sight, Lyman 58E Rear Sight. |
G7547R | Model 75 Target | Peep Sight – Redfield 63 Front Sight, Redfield 75HW Rear Sight |
Hope that helps.

Mostly better, still have a cough but at least back in the air now.
No, didn’t see the post on the ’06, still catching up, I will look for it. I did notice you were selling a few more rifles, I may need to drive up there (after the snow stops) to browse your inventory again.
Hope you and Tom are doing well.

75 yr old friend of mine recently had to spend couple of days in hospital, though he’d had 3 boosters. Too bad our gov’t doesn’t have resources to develop a more effective vaccine, but with 200 B. committed to supporting a foreign war, some problems have to be relegated to the back-burner.

I recently came across a Winchester model 75 target rifle from that was my father in law’s. The peep sights had been removed from the rifle years ago. I’m looking around for peep sights so that this rifle can be used by my children for their 4H shooting competitions. Where would you recommend looking for sights? Ebay, or somewhere else?rnBest,rnRick
Some of our members here sell sights, Ben Tolsen is one of them. You can place a wanted post in the “Winchester Swap Meet” section of the forum for your exact needs.
EBay is also another choice but specific sights are hit or miss.
