I know how to find my model 43’s date of manufacture by serial #, but I am curious to know if there is any way to find out if a rifle was supposed to be a deluxe or standard?

If not, are the deluxe and standard stocks easily interchangeable?

should I be wary of buying a standard rifle that someone may have put a deluxe stock on?  How could I ever tell?

As with Super Grade 70s (except late ones), probably no special markings on brl or rcvr.  The Special (deluxe) 43 could be ordered with a Lyman rcvr sight, so if it has that, probably legit.  But the Special could also be ordered with std open sight. Actually, I wouldn’t care how the stock got there is price & cond are acceptable.
