Chuck, I have made cases by making them smaller, etc, to include thinning the rim or reducing the diameter of the head area. But never have I had to build up the rim thickness. How is that done, if you may? I may never need to know, but its nice to have more data cluttering the limited memory capacity!! Tim
Tim, I don’t know. But if you start with a different case you may not have to do this. The 2 I posted are different but I don’t know the rim thickness either.
Chuck, Many years ago, before .405 Winchester brass was reasonably available and after B.E.L.L. had quit making the 405 Basic, I made some working brass from some metric European brass. I had to turn down the head area just in front of the rims. Held up quite well, too! Seems I recall the rim being a tad thinner than real .405 Winchester brass, but it was “close enough” to work. For the life of me, I just can’t envision how to increase rim thickness unless you used big press and somehow moved some brass from the head area into the rim. Or maybe applied some solder to the head? Darn it, why didn’t that page say HOW to do it! Cheers! Tim
