Do I have to buy a special Bore Snake for my Winchester 94 30-30 or just one for a 30 caliber

Hey, Billy.

Your rifle has a .308 bore.  Any .30 caliber cleaning equipment will be fine.

I stumbled across your questions.  Normally I don’t check this “Rules and FAQs” to learn more about Winchesters.  For your questions about how to care for your gun, if you were to ask your questions in the “Restoration, Repair, Maintenance” section, you would likely receive more help than in posting here.  Have you checked out the other places on the forum?  The “Rifles” area seems to be always busy with new topics–fun to learn!

It sounds as if you are going to enjoy shooting your new Winchester.  And yeah, maybe not swing it in a circle like Rooster Cogburn and Lucas McCain–I’ve seen people throw their guns across the room and, outdoors, fling them into the air.  Funny how when someone tosses a Winchester into the air, the rifle seems to go into slow-motion mode until it hits and clatters across the rocks/pavement.

53 years old and on your first Winchester; life is good!

Thanks for the answer and thanks for the advise on where to post. I really didn’t think to look around and see where the best place to post my questions was. That advise helps a lot because I always seem too have questions. I really love that I found this site that is specifically for Winchester. And I defiantly am enjoying my first 94. And don’t worry I wont be doing the spin move. But when I was a kid watching those old westerns I sure thought I would someday. LOL! I still watch those old westerns by the way.

Me too.  Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea–Hard to beat those fellows in a Western.  Toss in Clint.  And don’t forget Henry Fonda in “Once Upon a Time in the West.”!!!
