You can be in charge… I’m flying out Saturday afternoon.  The Broken Arrow location used to be on 15th just down from the Tulsa Fairgrounds… I was devastated when they moved… thought they had just closed up.  It was two years before I had heard of them relocating.  I tried the one downtown, but the food wasn’t as good…

If I go I’ll likely be headed south Saturday afternoon. Still trying to get my ducks in a row and they are not cooperating.

So, did we make any decisions on Billy Ray’s? If a heard of us do go, it’d might be kinda fun to meet up as a group. If we did have a head count, we could always call them and give them fair warning that we are taking over. I will start a thread…

Y’all have fun, safe travels! Have some projects FINALLY coming together so will be busy next few days. At least I slipped off to the range for a little while yesterday! I’m gonna have to get better at this retirement thing.

I walked the show for two days and came back without my money, so for me that’s a good show. I don’t know the table count but they had tables in corners and nooks that you needed a flashlight to see. The gate wasn’t as large as the fall show but the guns were there. Prices were cheap for junk and high for nice stuff. Some of the old large dealers were absent but the new blood made up for it. I made new contacts and caught up on gun prices.

A lot of young to me collectors with interest in the hobby buying and old collectors cashing in. Tulsa is the place where old collectors cash in without buyer and seller fees. It worked good for me this weekend even though I’m old and bought a Colt. T/R

Our table sold 1 on Friday, 7 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday. He bought 2 yesterday from a walker. I also seemed to notice some younger guys who knew their business in the particular guns that interested them. He has a Model 21 in .22 mag that got a lot of attention, but it never moved. He felt he had it priced right too. I am basically there for the entertainment. I bought four knives, got in a hurry, had to hold the lid up while looking and jacked up – I know better, felt stupid when I got home and looked them over better. But they were only 15$ each, so not breaking the bank, just embarrassing to make a rookie mistake. Teach me a good lesson to slowdown and pay attention. I should have shut the lid to the case and looked better. Thought I had a screaming deal, instead I paid exactly what they are worth, now just the pain to flip them for zero profit.

TR, a guy I know was complaining about his trip.  He said there was a lot of empty tables?  A friend of mine tried to get a table and was told there weren’t any.

Maybe a handful of empties, but out of 4,200, I’d expect some no-shows or last-minute emergencies. Having said that, there were quite a few who didn’t bother coming in Sunday morning at open, and many more who left early.

  Chuck,

I was there all day Friday for setup, Saturday all day, and not Sunday. I saw some empty tables on Friday but they were all full Saturday. Some people like us don’t stay for Sunday, I would expect we are not the only ones leaving. That show is set up day, bargain day. I don’t sell there, I buy there. It’s a tough show to sell at when the buyer has so many choices. A lot of trades and easy to find people willing but you have to know what your looking at. T/R

It was a slow show for me… I sold a half dozen sights… that’s it.  I bought one knife (early Morseth custom) I picked up the items won from Reata Pass Auction… actually did better at the auction than the show.  High point was eating at Billy Ray’s… three times in three days. 🙂  The catfish & ribs were beyond wonderful… :). On to Reno next weekend!

Thanks TR.  Knowing the individual I was betting he was just whingeing.  Don’t they get mad when you leave early?  I’ve heard they may not renew your tables?

I’ve heard that years back, pretty hard to enforce that when people come for so far away. It takes us 12hrs to drive home. If you aren’t set up by 8am they resell your table. Tulsa is not a local deal, it fills hotels all over town. They do a good job running the largest show in the world. T/R
