Recently found these at a local gun show and thought they were interesting. Too bad the letter does not include prices–I’m sure we would all laugh at the “big loot” back in 1967. Also thought the second letter was pretty cool with the Winchester letterhead along with T.G. Bennett’s signature from 1891.

Bennett’s letter only makes sense if written to a Win dealer or importer regarding some contractual issue; I’d guess that was why he handled the matter himself.
Years ago, I bought a gun in a auction described (allegedly) by Vaule. Couldn’t believe it was the same gun when it arrived, so far removed was its cond from his description. I protested the discrepancy loudly enough to be allowed to return it, unusual in an auction.
