I checked with my shipping place to get what shipping cost would be and they said you can’t insure international packages.  That makes send it very risky.

The buyer will have to take the risk Bob if they still want the sights. Get it in writing they agree. Only the shipper can file a claim in Canada but the buyer needs to know if it goes missing, it’s not on you. In Canada you can’t file a claim for damaged goods. They will say they’re not responsible for packaging. They only deal with missing packages.

And I thought UPS was the worstest of the worst!

Bob, you said “your shipping place”.  What place is that?

Its a shipping store that does all the shippers, UPS, Fedex, DHL, Speedee, USPS and common carrier. I think we got this figured out.

My experience is in a different area but I’ve never had an issue with international shipments, for some reason. Domestic is another matter and quite frankly current circumstances would make me very wary of overseas shipments. I have some vendors who won’t even venture a guess when pressed for delivery dates on merchandise currently sitting on boats. That said I’d ship USPS to Canada or Australia without hesitation.

Isn’t USPS REGISTERED Priority Mail the safest way?

Yes, but it’s not available for foreign delivery.

The person receiving the item can arrange for a mailing location just south of the border and then have someone bring it across for him or go get it.

There is no issue whatsoever with shipping sights to Canada. I’m in Canada and I’ve purchased several different sights from the US with never a problem. My preference is USPS to avoid high brokerage costs.

I’m going to ship it to a US address and the buyer will take care of it from there. The biggest hurdle is the insurance and the paperwork involved with customs.
