OfflineHello fellow collectors,
I recently acquired a vintage Winchester rifle case and I’m hoping someone here might recognize the model or have insight into its production era. It’s a soft case made of green padded canvas with Brown leather accents at both ends and a Brown handle. There’s a stitched leather patch near the handle with the “WINCHESTER” name and a decorative emblem.
It has a rugged, classic look—possibly from the 1970s to 1990s—but I haven’t been able to find a match online or in catalogs. I’d love to know:
• When and where these cases were sold
• Whether they were part of a specific Winchester accessory line
• Any tips on tracking down another one
I’ve attached a photo below for reference. If anyone has seen this style before or owns one, I’d be grateful for any details you can share.
Thanks in advance—and as always, I appreciate the collective knowledge.
Best,

OfflineWelcome, Bill! That case looks like a version of the well-made Boyt cases but dates to a time when mass-merchandisers were selling just about anything with the Winchester name from tents to pocket knives.

OfflineI have one exactly like it except it does not say Winchester. It has the Pachmayr insignia instead. Inside there is a tag that says Bob Allen, Des Moines, Iowa. So to make it more confusing I used to visit a the Boyt Harness store in Iowa, a Bob Allen store in Des Moines and shoot at a Pachmayr range in California. I do know I bought it in 1993 when I bought a new shotgun and it is a very good bag.
Check out the Boyt Harness store online.
