Mark,

Just found your channel a few days ago. I am impressed! I just moved to TN from southern OR coast and am trying to expand my collection. Your videos have been an enormous help as has your suggestion to join the Winchester Collectors Assn. I just finished watching your video on the Morse carbine. I’d love to have one if you ever run into one for sale.  Your land looks like it’s near Klamath Falls, is it?

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Winchester Arms Collectors Association.

It’s a small world.  My family settled on the Southern Coast of the Oregon Territory, and we’ve been here ever since. We’re now on the East side of the Cascades in a remote area about halfway between Klamath Falls and Burns.  I still have a lot of family in Curry County, though.

Here’s a picture of my great, great grandfather who came across the Oregon Trail in 1852 to work as a professional hunter for the logging camps in Curry County.  His wife (my great, great grandmother) was born in a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail.  My cousin in Gold Beach still has that old rifle and I got the pleasure to inspect it recently.

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the Morse Carbine episode.  If you’re interested in the old girl, she’s for sale on consignment in the shop.  I have to warn you that the price is pretty steep at $17K.  It would be rather appropriate for it to find its way back to the South where it came from.  I’m sure there are folks in Tennessee who would like to see a Confederate firearm come home.  Happy Trails, Mark

Wow Mark – I certainly see the strong family resemblance to Grandpa Colvin.  Glad he wasn’t related to Erin though……………

Very cool picture…I have nothing like that of my own family, not prior to 1920 anyways….With all the hardships and things that could go wrong, it’s incredible any of us came to be in the first place!

Really cool Mark. My mother’s family came west in 1852 on the Oregon trail but cut off south to Utah.  Wish I had some pictures.  I do have a list of passengers that were in the wagon train.
