Question for Bert.  Will there be a new edition of the red book any time soon?

Thanks,

Al

Unlikely at this time. The values for most pre-64 Winchesters are changing too quickly these days, and it takes a lot of time to collect the value numbers. I am not ruling out a 5th edition, but it will not happen anytime soon. Additionally, I have two other book projects that I have neglected for too long, and have recently turned my efforts back to them.

Thank you, Bert.

Do you have anymore insight about the values changing too quickly on pre-64 Winchesters in terms of going up, down, a mix of both and, if the latter are there any particular models that stand out in terms of direction as you see it right now?

Good luck on your two book projects.

James,

Watching the hammer prices at dozens of auctions, values are down across the board for all models except for the extremely high condition specimens. Common guns (Model 94s) are down significantly in typically found condition.

That’s pretty much my opinion as well, Bert, but I wanted to bounce the other possibilities off you to get a much better handle on the situation.

Thank you, and have a great day!

Bert,

Thanks for the reply.  Good luck on the other books.

Sounds like a buyers market to me.
