Over the past 30-plus years, my father and I hunted, participated in many sporting-clay shoots and won our share of public skeet/trap events. We have a small collection of pre-64 model 12 shotguns that began many years ago.
Is there a trustowrthy guide to the value of these shotguns? Years ago, we stored them away and went about our business of retirement, (my Dad), and raising a family, (me).
Any advice would greatly be appreciated.
David,
“The RED BOOK of WINCHESTER Values, 4th edition” would be a good starting point. If you cannot find a copy for sale, contact me at [email protected]

Depending on condition and alterations your Model 12’s may be worth more to Trap and Skeet shooters than collectors. Many hard-used clays guns in good condition may been refinished or altered as a normal part of life as a competitive shotgun and as a result have little value to a collector. Older shooters who grew up with or started out in competition with a Model 12 may want to add a nice example to their stable for old times’ sake. I know I make some old guys smile every time I step on the field with an old Model 12. IMHO nothing breaks a clay bird better than a Model 12 Trap Gun.
