Looking at purchasing a 1894 rifle. .32ws,oct barrel, takedown model. Any help and info on what to for and approx value range would be greatly appreciated.
Hello
We will need the serial number and several photos of the rifle in order to help you. The range of potential values can be thousands of dollars depending on the condition, caliber, and configuration specifics.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I only have two pictures sent to me by the seller. I should have taken pictures when I seen it in person. Serial number is 205700. .32ws,oct barrel, has a double set trigger. Lyman receiver sight. Not sure how to post pictures from my phone. I can gladly email if you’re willing to look at them

Hello,
Based on the serial number the rifle was manufactured during 1904. Send the photos to [email protected]

Hello,
Here are the two images and the information which you forwarded to me. Not the best pictures I know. Just trying to get a ballpark idea of a fair price. Blueing on the barrel and magazine seem fair to me. Obvious marks on the receiver. Looks to me like it laid on something. No cracks in the wood. A few dings and minor scratches. I noticed the one screw on the tang looks like it had been disassembled. All the wood seems proud to the metal. My concern was a brass stock medallion. All the pictures I’ve been looking at I haven’t seen them on any.
The Lyman 21 receiver sight is worth about $400 by itself. Is there any inscription on the brass plate inlet into the stock? That is not an easy thing to do and it may be factory original. If not it is a definite deduction. The takedown frame configuration and double set triggers are value additions. A “ballpark number is going to be in the $2500 to $3000 considering the rear sight, takedown, & set triggers. IF the the brass plaque is original.

You may want to contact theCody Firearms Museum and get a “Factory Letter” for the rifle first. If the medallion is original it will be mentioned there. If not, then the rifle value is less due to the alterations. This will take several weeks to get.
