OfflineNew to the forum. I have one or more of models 12, 65, 70, 86, 92, 94, 95. I have been told that eventually the thing to do is to hone in on one specific model, but for now I am going through some of the more popular models.
In your opinion, what model should I go after next?

OfflineYou could decide to specialize in Winchesters full coverage factory engraved by Louis Nimschke. For most of us that would be a single piece collection.

I couldn’t afford a one. For all intents and purposes, I am on a standard gun, standard caliber, and light beer kind of budget. The only engraved stuff I can afford says Miroku.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the 1873! This has become my favourite model.
Collect what you like and like what you collect.
And remember the golden rule, a man can never have too many Winchesters

I don’t know how it happened, but I somehow forgot to put a 73 on the list of ones I already own. I suppose this means I agree with you! I own one lowly 2nd model 1873 that I am in the process of refinishing the wood on.

OfflineCollect what you like. If you want to get the full experience I feel you’re missing out if you don’t have a Single Shot as mentioned above and at least one (or twelve) rimfire. If you want to shoot them that could be a factor in your acquisition efforts. We all have different tastes and that’s fortunate because otherwise we’d all be chasing the same guns. It’s OK to focus on one model or variation but I’ve never been able to do so and don’t feel compelled to do so.
Mike
Model 1890 in first, second or third variations, with short , long , WRF and long rifle chamberings should keep you busy searching for awhile.

OfflineA lot of good suggestions. So I say go with you’re gut! When you’re sitting there and wondering, about things, or even wiping down one of you’re rifles, think about you’re feelings, as each Winchester model, holds many different qualities and configurations, besides calibers.
I think you have to decide what makes you happy!

I think everyone needs one (at least) M1876.
I do follow my own advice.
I do have a suggestion for what model to focus on, but I’ll hold back as Tom (oldcrankyyankee) don’t need more competition
Oh Steve, You truly have my number! I say find a specific model and focus on it. But as long as it is a JMB gun you will be ok. Sorry Steve I don’t have a 76 yet, will have to work on that. Maybe this one will be a good one to start with.LOL

OfflineAnd which bank or banks are we going to rob to finance a credible bid for this 1876 One of One Thousand?
