Just signed up so hope this is in the right section.  

I came across what looks to be a nib 1897. A friends dad passed away a few years back and it was in his safe.  Serial # says its in the 20’s i think.  Box is in good shape.  Gun inside is wrapped in brown paper like you see them wrap candy in on old tv shows. Im just looking for some help determining if it is in fact new and value. I think it should be in a museum to preserve it if it is in fact nib. The box is breaking down i think. When i say that i mean it is almost dusty when you touch it. Thanks
