The half-octagon Winchester is a very nice find. Off the top of my head, I would say that by far you see the most in the M1894. Next would be the M1886, and then the M1892 and then the M1873 and then the M1876 and the least found would be the found on the M1895.
That’s just my speculation – I’m happy to be corrected. I puzzled a bit between the M1873 and the M1892.
Steve, a half-octagon 73/76 & 95 are on my radar. Will find them eventually!
I’ve had one 1873 in half-round. I really liked the balance. I don’t understand why they weren’t more popular. An octagon barrel gun feels muzzle-heavy to me, especially a 26″ 1894 rifle.

I agree 100% Mike. An iron 26” full octagon 73 or 76 isn’t something I want to lug thru the woods on a white tail hunt!

Jim Gordon had a half round (round at the breech then octagon) barreled gun that lettered, which so far is the only one known. Here is my 94 Half octagon,

Wow, that is a beauty 94 Bob!
And that’s the first half round At the breach I’ve ever heard of. Possibly a 1 of 1.

The most common ½ Octagon barrel is found on the Single Shot rifle. Without taking into account the specific variations of the Single Shot, the overall numbers are as follows;
1. Octagon = 79.46%
2. ½ Octagon = 5.975%
3. Round = 13.22%
4. Blank records & Receiver frames only = 1.345%

For those that are curious, the barrel type production numbers for the Model 1894 are skewed by the large number of Carbines (which are 100% round barrels). The Rifle variant made up 54.5% of the total production through the year 1931 (serial number 1079689).
1. Octagon = 50%
2. ½ Octagon = 10.8%
3. Round = 39.2%

Bob; I think You should dump that ratty lookin’ old ’94, it would look a lot better in My rack of ’94’s with its brothers.
Harry,
I don’t think I could in good conscience sell you a ratty gun. I’ll have it restored first

Hello
I’m new to the forum. I am in the process of rebuilding a model 100 rifle and need some parts. Does anyone have any leads for me to contact regarding these parts ?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Johnny.
I have you checked Homestead parts or Ebay.
