Baby just told me that she is tied of hearing everyone talk about the Tulsa show when we go to all the local shows. She’s had enough and is taking me in April. In Missouri if you purchase antique firearms you just present a state ID. I’ve never purchased out of state before. What is the process for out of staters making purchase of antique firearms in Oklahoma. We are well aware of the process for the new stuff as we have adopted somewhere around 80 or so younger children. Hmm. What kind of father does not know how many kids he has.🤔  Now, we want to adopt more of our great American senior citizens.

As far as I know, nothing extra is required to buy Antiques.  Except the money.

Antique is cash and carry. Modern is on the seller to comply. I wouldn’t take a modern down there to sell.

You’ll find a lot of seller with signs on their tables that say “Private Collection”, making handshake deals. Do with that what you will. There’s also a few folks standing out in the parking lot making delas, some of the stuff carried up there won’t even make it inside, although I heard them trying to crack down on it due to other vendors/dealers complaining.

You’ll need both days so prepare to spend the night….it’s a HUGE show, and a lot of walking. You’ll want to take bottled water/snacks in a backpack kind of big.

We figured we’d drive down Fridaay its about 8 hrs. And leave Sunday afternoon. Over the years I’ve made purchases in lot and just inside front door.

If you know someone with a table, try to get a set up day pass… pay for it if need be.  Thursday is when the good stuff gets sold and gets put under tables.  It’s well worth the extra hotel night… good luck.    The Big Reno Show is scheduled the same weekend, which really sucks.  I have four tables there, otherwise I would be flying in & having a blast.  If you have any knee or back issues, take your pain meds with you…  you can rent a scooter for $75. a day and on Thursday you can cover the show alot faster… on Friday when people start to show up, it’s a little tougher.  On Saturday & Sunday, forget the scooter…it’s  shoulder to shoulder people and lots of baby carriages to deal with.  Cheers!

If you’re going to get serious about adopting senior citizens who haven’t attained antique status and want to be able to buy out of state I would suggest you look into an 03 Curios and Relics firearms license. Some collectors think it’s too much trouble or will invite unwanted scrutiny from BATFE but I disagree. You should be able to get it before the fall Tulsa show or this year’s WACA show, probably not for spring Tulsa show. You can also have C&R guns shipped directly to you without involving a local licensed dealer. I don’t do may C&R transfers but it has been helpful.

Unfortunately for baby and I we don’t know anyone setting up in Tulsa. On a upside baby and I are still getting around pretty good so no meds or scooter needed. I did consider bringing a small wagon so baby can carry all my new Winchesters around. It sounds like Saturday and Sunday will be to crowded for a wagon.

Yes, during peak times the wagon would be no fun. The C&R was very little money comparatively and I’m finishing my first three years of having one. Highly recommended….it has saved me a lot of money and effort in that time.

Ben, what do you think of the Reno show?  I have not been there for quite a long time.  Many years ago I would go all 3 times a year and thought it was one of the better shows along with Vegas and Denver.

My 2 cents… all shows are down currently.  For myself, I would currently rank shows I attend in this order:  Cody, Greeley, Las Vegas, Tulsa Fall, Kansas City, Texas Collectors Denton, Reno Fall, Kalispell Spring & Fall, Portland annual, Tulsa Spring, Reno Spring, Reno Summer, Missoula, Idaho shows and then, sadly, any show in Washington last…

I’m flying down for the New Frontier show in Durant, Ok. next month… I know Scott Tarbell and have done a couple of his other shows… he does a good job promoting.  Sorta like going fishin’ in a new spot…. 🙂

Used to be the spring and summer shows were always less attended than the fall or winter shows.  The only time I have been to Tulsa was in April and it was overwhelming.  I like to go to the shows with the most sellers of collectables.  Never been to Kansas City, Kalispell, Portland or Missoula.

Chuck… you should give Kansas City a try. It’s usually two weeks after Cody.  It has about the same number of tables as Greeley… lots of old guns…lots!  It’s held in the MCI event center which is right next to the airport… there are lots of hotels surrounding that are within easy walking distance.  Most have shuttles to and from the airport as well… I’m currently waiting out the airfare pricing to get a better price.  Last year I got a round trip ticket for $300.  Nice hotels were under $100. per night… lots of good BBQ places in KC too!  🙂
