I’ve been adding to my upstairs library this year (special thanks to Rick Hill & others!)…these are the books I use most often. There are many more downstairs that are gathering dust currently. Last week I added the FN/Browning pistols 2 vol. set… got it yesterday and went to put it on the shelf… I discovered that it’s 1″ taller than the Browing A5 books I have (by same author)…just frustrating. The shelf spacing is adjustable but it would lessen my wife’s space below (not something I want to deal with). So I laid them sideways and needed to adjust the Colt book too… The Remington books I have are all different sizes too. Why do authors/publishers do that? Yes, I have some duplicates stashed for trade stock… and still have space for JWA’s 75 book…but he better hurry!

Here’s the Winchester section… need the 1885 books to round out the group. Is there a book
on the 1886 that I need to add?

Ben,
Save 2.5″ of width for the 650 page Model 75 book, it will be worth it. 5 of the 9 chapters are currently being edited and the remaining 4 chapters should be finished by January and ready to go to the publisher. It will be the standard size as your “regular” Winchester books (Madis/Schwing/Houze etc.) so you won’t have to adjust your shelves. The U.S. paper, printing and bonded leather binding will be exactly the same as the 69 book so when I am done the whole set of bolt-action books will be matchy-matchy (at least that is my intent).

Very nice! I see some I need to start hunting for!
Building a reference library is almost as entertaining as collecting Winchesters. Some are good investments in more ways than one!

I just unpacked my library and was a bit annoyed at the tall books. My bottom shelf is a bit taller so I put the Winchester books and a few others down there. There are a few tall books on other subjects so I just laid them down and went on. Having a tall book laid down is less annoying than being out of place. The reloading books and cookbooks are often taller so they all got moved to a bookshelf in my reloading bench, cookbooks moved to a desk in my kitchen.

I’ve got books on shelves, in book cases and in multiple stacks here and there. I’ve been trying to rearrange them and that is when I found the 2 books I just sold. Pretty bad when you loose track and buy 2 of the same book.
I got a letter in the mail today from Lou Behling. The History of Rimfire Cartridges in America 1852 – 2022 will start shipping about 1/14/25. The deluxe edition caused a back up. The deluxe edition has been sold out for weeks.
If you order now you might get the pre publication price of $125 instead of the $140.

I just might need to build another bookshelf…. emailed Lou, the pre-publication price is still good. Sending a check today…. thanks for the heads-up Chuck!

I would like to know what members here feel are “must haves” that I am missing in my Winchester reference library? And when will Bert’s updated Redbook be available? We gotta put pressure on the white bearded duck fanatic…
Don’t see any of Pauline Muerrle’s books in your library

Ben, I refer to John Madl’s and Arthur Pirkle for my 1886’s.

The Pirkle 1886 book has been hard to track down…I got the Trolard books on commemoratives even though I know many here won’t be interested…they’re a pretty good reference. Pretty cheap still too.
Not into these but the shop has the book. Really nice book and case.
