Using the “when was your rifle made”  the serial # for a model 88 I have comes up “date not found”.  The serial # is 161938A , any help would be appreciated.

There seems to be some sort of a glitch in the database files for the Model 88.  Per the information I have, S/N 161938 was manufactured in 1965,but I cannot attest to its accuracy.  Do the stocks on the rifle have cut checkering or impressed (basket-weave)?

That is an indicator that the 1965 production date is at least very close.
