Serial number 7110 on my model 77. That would be manufactured in middle 1950’s?

Butt plate is a model 72 so that would be incorrect!

So otherwise it is in very nice condition. Just acquired it.

Mike,

I suspect that your Model 77 was manufactured in the year 1954.

The butt plate for the 77 should be marked “Mod. 72” on the inside.  That same butt plate mold was used on a number of Winchester rifles and is correct for your 77.

I hate to disagree with Bert but production of the Model 77 did not start until 1955 so I would guess your low serial number rifle was manufactured in 1955 (first year of production).

Actually, our WACA DoM lookup says production started in April of 1954 which is incorrect, production actually started in April of 1955 (per Watrous).

Can we have Seth fix that?
