You can blend grain lines on bigger repairs this way too, just by rubbing it in less.

Yes, by all means try something easy first.  My rifle needed a lot of work, perhaps something like the stain pens or the wax will fix the scratches in your rifle right up.  The easiest answer is normally the best answer.

I purchased several different permanent marking pens in various shades of brown and black from a local artist supply store. They also sell a “blending” pen which works nicely at hiding the repair.
