OfflineBeing listed as original condition imo. Just a quick look but, sure has that reblue shine and no elevator wear on the barrel or the takedown receiver extension 🤔

OnlineRick,
Bolshoi. Look closely at the junction of barrel and receiver and other edges that should be crisp and are ….a little soft.
And that shine comes from polishing to an excessively fine grit.
Also note the lack of difference in bluing color of “rust blued” barrel and “machine blued” receiver. All has been hot salts blued, which wasn’t employed by WRA at all until 1939, way after this rifle was made.
This thing is Kollector Kryptonite — it attracts and then turns the buyer into an object of pity and humor.
Only my opinion, but still….

OnlineI just re-read the GB description. While it certainly implies original condition, it never says so explicitly.

I agree Bill they certainly do imply imo. “it sure is a pleasure to find a deluxe version in this condition”. 🤔
It’s a rabbit hole. “I never said its.condition was original!”

OfflineLots of soft edges, couldn’t help but notice after reading Zeb’s post. Beautiful wood but I can almost smell the fresh coat of varnish.

OfflineIts obvious its been refinished. The rounding of the corners and screw holes and the super shine of the metal.

OfflineShe has been offering these fine deluxe Winchesters and Marlins for a long time and appears people buy them. She had an engraved Marlin a while ago with the engraving buffed though in places and had the same kind of description without saying it was refinished. It’s unreal that she has a A+ rating

The prices people are paying is equally amazing to me. I don’t think these buyers hang out here. They should, as they are surely short on knowledge.

OfflineIt’s often obvious, that the “Word Salad”, is in full swing on many of they’re G. B. adds!
There’s a reason I don’t have them on my favorite’s list to look at!
I’m no expert by any means, as the members here have found many of the discrepancies that seem to stick out, to me!
