Hello guys,
Most of us are fairly fortunate to be in a position to spend thousands of $$ on our hobby and not have to worry about much. You have all obviously seen the absolute mess in my home “town” of Houston. Luckily Laura’s and my house is still high and dry and the ranch house is also doing fine. But there are tens of thousands of good people that have just had there lives absolutely torn apart by the unheard of rain. 30 inches total at my house so far! Here is a link that if you scroll down about half way has many link to various help organizations that are supporting the relief effort. Choose you favorite and chip in what you can. I appreciate it. And the unknown person who gets a bit of help will have just a little easier time hopefully because of your support. https://www.texastribune.org/2017/08/28/hurricane-harvey-relief-efforts-how-help/
Thanks so much. Soon, the Texas spirit will recover and we will talk about that “little drizzle we had called Harvey”

Money’s a bit tight right now but will kick in a bit. Since I have a bit of time on my hands I’ll be headed that way in a few days to help with the clean-up. My brother and his wife live in Houston, daughters in Katy and lots of in-laws scattered about. All still above water for the most part last I heard but more rain is coming.
Good morning all,
Still high and dry at the house but have friends whose house is in water. Major rives to the southwest and northeast side of town are flowing at higher than record flood stages and the Brazos river is expected to rise another 4 to 5 feet. For some it is still going to get worse if you can imagine. One of the Houston Texans football players, J.J. Watt, started 2 days ago trying to raise $200,000. People from around the country now donated just over 5 million. I have seen videos of lines of pickup trucks (our Cadillacs down here) with bass boats and john boats waiting to get to a point where they can launch and help get people. The attached photo is of a Costco and Target store which will sadly be of no help once people CAN get around. There is still major flooding in the city with access into and out of the city extremely limited. The second photos is an “expressway”

Our fellow Americans need our help. Ways to help in Houston
Far too many people have been left without food, water, shelter, or power. This is our moment to extend our hearts to the victims of this tragedy and to the silent heroes risking their lives to save others.

Michael,Is that flood water at or near Collector’s Firearms. ?
Bill
Bill,
There is SO MUCH water everywhere around the city it is hard to know exactly what is/has happened at a specific single location. I was just looking at a video of the major expressway which enters Houston from the NE and the flood water rushing over the freeway broke the 24 inch tall cement guard rails and repositioned them across all the lanes of traffic multiple times!! There will need to be hundreds of bridges many and miles of roadway inspected. Even when the water recedes there is much to do before traffic can resume

A just for a bit of lightness often needed at times like this. We all have heard “Come Hell or High Water” Now that Houston has collected the requisite amount of the wet stuff our next project is the fires of hell!! That’s how we do it down here!

I definitely feel for the people of Houston but there is devastation from north of Corpus Christi all the way past Houston all along the coast. I live in San Antonio and we missed the storm, barely, but the city is pretty well out of gas. The trucks just can’t get here for now to fill the stations. Of course this is trivial compared to being flooded out but there is millions more people affected because of this storm all along the coast of Texas.
