I am thinking about ordering a letter for my 1873 Winchester, has anyone ever ordered one before? If so can you post a picture of one? Curious to know what info it contains.

Aaron,

I would be willing to better that we “collectively” have ordered at least 500 – 600 letters from the CFM records office. Bob is out resident 1873 guru, and can post a picture of a letter for you.

Aaron,

A 73 letter have about the same information as any other model gun. It can have just the bare minimum of information to a lot depending on the configuration and if the gun had return and repairs. Here is some for a 73 that has some special feature. The letters that have been sent out in recent years will have the date the serial number was stamped on the receiver if its available. Most of the guns will only have the what type of gun, caliber, barrel shape, trigger type and warehouse dates

I generally just do inquiries, a letter or two is included in my CFM membership but have never gotten around to ordering one. My 73 is a bit unusual but it came with a letter, not sure any others are interesting enough to merit a letter.
