A Happy New Year to all.Was out for a duck hunt ,first thing New Years Day with my Winchester Super-X Model 3.Bagged a pair of black ducks.So a very good start to 2022 for me.

Maybe but I’m giving some thought to function testing the fireplace or casting some bullets. Was 15 degrees here this morning and with the wind my heater could only manage 60 degrees inside. Shotguns are staying in the rack, I’ve got books that need reading. Too cold for this Texas wuss.

We had a mild spell with a lot of rain.A lot of the ice went out from where I hunt.Was an ice pan in front of my blind that I pushed out of the way,so there was open water in front of my blind.Was still some ice near the shore,that I had to break through,but that was it.
On Jan. 3rd I was up again and was able to bag another black duck.Pond has since frozen over again,but we are to have a couple of days of warm weather,so I am hoping the ice may clear in front of my blind again,so I can get out for a hunt Friday morning.Time will tell if that happens or not.
