Talking to a large retailer today who’s store front is closed but overall sales are up. Spoke to a couple postal worker friends as well at two different locations & noticeable increase in firearm shipments.
Not sure how this plays into the current health situation but, buying and selling hasn’t slowed & possibly increased.
Any thoughts ?

I’m seeing the major uptick in sales is self defense or home defense guns. That is what I hearing from local gun shops.

Don’t really know about the local gun shops in Orange County but in LA County they shut them down and then reopened them at least twice. The ones they show on TV have long lines trying to get in. I usually go to a gun shop twice a week but it has been closed for at least 3 weeks. Spending a lot of time on the computer researching bolt action target guns. Even if I ordered one my FFL is not open for business. Several years ago we started to hear that Gavin Nuisance was going to sign a bill so we would have to register ammo. Out of state purchases had to be delivered to a FFL. I stocked up but no where to go shoot except way out in the middle of the desert.

Even champion gun-hater Cuomo hasn’t gone THAT far! Stores here in NY are open, but restrict no. of customers in shop at one time.
Different sources report NICS checks up 75-85 %, causing delays. Wonder if gun & ammo makers are allowed to keep working, which would vary from state to state. Anyway, increased gun sales are good news, except to the professional gun-haters; the fanatics in Bloomberg’s org must be spitting blood.
Most of the gun collectors, self defense and survivalist have stocked up on guns and ammo in the previous presidential elections so I’m guessing this time a lot of non gun owners that normally vote against guns decided to buy guns to protect their toilet paper. This will help the 2nd amendment fight.

Costco changed their return policy and will not accept returns of TP or other hoarded item.

Wow–I’m surprised! Considering the undisguised & unapologetic hard-core left-wing slant of BBC World News, & other BBC programs, the above report is remarkably fair & even-handed: the gun-owners mentioned aren’t stigmatized as right-wing extremists, or psychos, but are represented as rational people responding to realistic concerns precipitated by the current panic.
One minor error is that small gun-stores, at least, in NYS have not been forced to close–those with only one employee on duty are still open (most around here are one-man shops, anyway), although the no. of customers inside the shop at one time is restricted.

Yes Clarence I thought it was interesting there was no major slant toward gun slinging psychos although many of the ninja clothed black plastic wielding wannabes lurk at the 25 & 50 yd increments when I’m trying to sight in a lever at the range.
The biggest concern right now I’m hearing are delivery delays.

The two gun shops in my area here in northwestern Ontario seem to be on the “essential services ” list. The remote first nations reserves are in spring goose hunting mode so I gues they need lots of ammo. I noticed a small lineup at appropriate “social distancing” space between at one shop. Of course online gun sales are still available for purchase which in Canada don’t require that a gun be shipped to a FFL but can be sent directly the the purchaser.

What a blessing! Even possessing a C&R license in this country is of very limited benefit, because most of the FFLs selling on-line will NOT honor it! These AHs want to do the ATF “one better” by imposing restrictions that are outside the law.

Despite Canada’s restrictions on gun ownership (with some I agree with and some I don’t) and the need for constant vigilance to avoid another disaster like the infamously expensive and useless Gun Registry that was mercifully abolished it does, nevertheless have some favourable aspects compared to many countries including the USA.
I just purchased a nice Colt mod. 1911, commercial, first one ever, 1914 vintage out of Quebec, and yes We in Canada can send them direct seller to buyer after getting the registration changed from one to the other, and authorization to transport. This is done via phone or now email at the Firearms Office in Miramiche New Brunswick and usually takes a couple of weeks, then I send it. The only draw back with this is inspection, if I’m not happy with the gun it’s a pain in the a– to return it so one needs to get a lot of detailed pictures and ask all the pertinent questions before buying. Now saying that, this system has worked out really well for Us Canucks. I’ve never had any issues . I also just sold a really nice Colt, nickel plated 2nd gen. s.a.a. that I imported from Florida a while back, and will be mailed probably this week. I was talking with a lady at the firearms office and she was telling me they are busy however they are also a little short staffed due to current circumstances, but I gotta say they are being very accomodating and helpful. I hope Our illustrious Mr. Trudeau don’t screw it up. Our local gun shop seems to be closed or call in only. I don’t use them much as they don’t usually carry what I’m interested in. It really sucks here today, IT”S SNOWING.

I notice browsing web sites that the AR style guns get way more virws than anything else. Gun sales might be up, but the sad reality & no surprise, the lever niche isn’t.
Would you rather have at your disposal an AR or a lever gun to defend your toilet paper hoard? (Or your antique gun collection!)
