Hello from Rome Italy
My name is Marcello, 66 years old
I’m a new member, i hope to know nice people and spend good time in thes awesome place that’s WC forum.
I am already a happy user of the SWCA Smith&Wesson Collectors Association, of which I have been a member since 2022.
In my best years I chased women and started collecting guns to dissuade husbands and boyfriends from hurting me…
Guys I’m kidding.
I’ve been collecting Smith & Wessons since 1980 and only recently started with Winchester smoothbores.
Ciao from Rome
Marcello
Marcello,
Welcome to WACA!
My late father was born in Baranello, Compo basso, which if I’m correct, is not real far from Rome! His oldest brother and wife still live there, and have a family cheese business, that my father worked in, when he was a kid, before WW ll!
Cheese, Wine, Women, fast cars, Winchesters, etc………………………….You’ve come to the right place!
Send me a PM, when you can!

Welcome, Marcello! I’m a few months younger than you, I visited Rome when I was 12. Don’t have any favorite Roman restaurants but in my adult years I’ve become a fan of smooth whiskey and have been known to spend time with women who may seem a little rough around the edges. I don’t pursue the married type but an old bachelor like me has fewer higher aspirations than to be shot by a jealous husband on his hundredth birthday. I hope his aim is true, be rather awkward to linger awhile.
I’m quite fond of Winchester shotguns but I hope you avail yourself to some of those fine Italian shotguns American shotgunners’ dreams are made of.
Mike
Ciao Marcello!
I am a temporary resident of Florence, Italy for a few more weeks but will be headed back to the U.S. for the Cody show in July. I am working in the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice this coming week but if you are up my way in Florence the week after next I will buy you lunch.
Buona Festa della Republica!
Best Regards,

Welcome, Marcello. It’s only natural for an an Italian – invested at birth with an eye for perfect lines and voluptuous curves (I’m thinking of my old Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce) — to ultimately be drawn to WACA and it’s rough hewn but like-minded members.
As a man of the Eternal City, you might appreciate this small but telling example of Italian Justice: some decades ago a friend of mine had been stopped by the carabinieri for speeding on a road up north near Maranello. The officer was writing the citation and patiently lecturing my friend when something 4 feet tall and red blew by in a cloud of dust, wailing like a Banshee and almost instantly disappearing over the horizon. My friend looked over at the officer, who was staring transfixed into the distance while holding himself at full attention. He saluted the now invisible howler, then relaxed and shook his head. Muttering “che bella macchina!”, he resumed writing the ticket.
