I also had a 1995 Ford Escort I drove almost 222,000 miles. I only got rid of it because it was costing me too much to get it through inspection each year.

I’ve owned a Dodge, a Chevy and several Fords. None were diesel because I don’t need one. If I towed or hauled often I would have a diesel. Each brand served me well and they all lasted until I got tired of them. My current truck is a 1/2 ton Ford with a twin turbo V6. It actually can haul or tow more than the 1/2 ton V8. If I drive the speed limit and don’t get on the turbos it will get 26 mpg on the highway. I had a beast once when I needed one but I don’t enjoy driving one of those on a daily basis.
