Finally made it to Cody for a visit. I have a friend who lives in Dubois and he meet me at the airport in Cody and was my tour guide and companion. He had been to Cody previously but not for a long time. One thing that was a surprise was the number of big Mule deer bucks we saw in town. Two had wasting disease, and that was sad. Saw one that was a trophy size, really big and very beautiful tall antlers. The museums were spectacular and the people were very kind and helpful. We spent two full days in the Winchester museums, should have taken another full day, but we wanted to see the town as well. The Irma Hotel was a treat, what wonderful meals. So glad to be part of WACA.

Glad you finally made it to two of my favorite places. Hope you get to go back soon!

I love that Old Trail Town. For anyone who wonders how I come about my appreciation of brown guns, relics, dust, just go to that Town and try to imagine a nice shiny “collector” beauty leaning up agin the wall or hanging over a door in one of those buildings. It would be like Oscar Wilde at a round up.

Yes, unfortunately Old Trail Town was likely closed for the season by then. Lots of great exhibits and some excellent books in the gift shop. I even enjoy spending time in the Dug Up Gun Museum but they close soon after Labor Day as well, IIRC. Someday I’d like to spend a couple of weeks at Cody. OK, maybe a month.
