OK, gents. Five months from now Cody 2018 will be either a glowing memory or a regret for many of us. I didn’t catch up with some of you last year, many others I didn’t get to pick your brains like I wanted. There simply wasn’t enough time. Quit honestly I’m not planning on going but will if my new business venture allows.
I’d like to organize a forum members’ meeting at the Riley Arena and hopefully an evening gathering including drinks and/or dinner one night during the show. First round is on me, whether I’m there or not. I’ll propose that we meet at the close of the show Friday and go from there but I’m open to suggestions.
Mike
Mike,
Something to consider… We (WACA) usually holds the General Membership meeting at the Coe Auditorium at the CFM on Friday shortly after the show closes, and the Banquet & Guest Speaker is held at the CFM on Saturday evening after the show closes. Both events are attended by a large number of our forum members.

Gentlemen
I was there in 2017 as first timer. The Cody show was a real eye opener as a new collector. I met Bert there and had a good chat. Really didn’t know anyone else so I didn’t strike up any other conversations. My room is booked for 2018 and I will be there. I would enjoy getting the opportunity to meet more members and putting a face to some names I now know.

I never miss the Cody show. It isn’t what it was in the “Good Ol’ Days” but it is still a yearly pilgrimage…
Hope to see you there, tried to chase you down last year but got sidetracked by an 1885. Didn’t get the 1885. 🙁

I will be there Friday. I have 2 first model 1873 rifles I am going to sell. A SRC with a great bore and even some bluing on the receiver and protected areas. I also will be selling a first model rifle with single set trigger, it too has a great bore. I have spent 1000’s $ this past winter and need to recover some of that money. Hopefully we can meet on Friday…
I will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Looks like I won’t be able to attend. Finally getting my new business off the ground and my second machine will arrive about two weeks before I need to head for Cody. I simply can’t leave my business for several days during that critical time.
I was looking forward to seeing again all the folks I met at previous shows and meeting some I haven’t met. I have some pretty exciting rifles I wanted to show and a few I’d be willing to sell or trade but that will have to wait.
I hope you all have a great show, looking forward to the reports.
Sorry to hear you won’t be there Mike. I wanted to catch up with you last year, but we were on a really tight time schedule and were in and out in a hurry.
We reserved a table this year and plan to be there for the duration. Will bring a few guns and some old western memorabilia for the table, but mostly there to browse, catch up with old friends and make new ones.

I can’t tell you how much I wish I was in Cody right now! 102 degrees here today and I have a brand-new ice machine to babysit and another to keep an eye on. Hope y’all have a great time and safe travels home. Hope to see some of you in Denton at the Texas Gun Collectors’ Show.

Hi Mike,
I am sorry you couldn’t make it this year. It is just as hot here as it was last year though.

Sorry I missed seeing you and the guys this year, Jeff. New machines taught me some new skills (and mebbe a few new cusswords) this weekend and in the middle of it all Margie called to see if I was on the way. 🙁 I’d forgotten that I’d apparently reserved a table. Hope someone was able to use it.
FWIW I went up a ladder to work on my new machine (I hate ladders!) in the dark at 10P on Friday the 13th…twice. Good thing I’m not superstitious but this vertigo thing can be a real nuisance sometimes.
Looking forward to next year, in the meantime looking forward to some stories about the show. Pics please!
Safe travels home, every one of you!
Mike
