Excited to be part of all of your knowledge about Winchesters through this forum. Killed a bear last year in BC with one of my old 94’s. Plan to return to BC this fall and kill a moose with one of my 94’s made in 1897. Love making ammo for these hunts, love telling my buddies about how amazing these Winchester guns still are almost 120 years later. Plan to visit Cody within the next couple of years.

Welcome Gordon from one 1894 lover to another! I am basically a carbine guy but will stray if there is a short barreled rifle waived in front of my nose. There are several ’94 specialists lurking around here and we are always happy to add to the list.
Give me a holler if you get up to the Redmond/Bend area and we can have a mini gun show sometime.

I have a .25-20 that came from a ranch near Lake Almanor, of N. California. Mine was made in 1908. The ranch and prior owners to the person I got it from, are unknown, but Gordon Johnson’s article made me wonder.. what if mine was the one sold at a garage sale? The Susanville, CA link is early and a shot in the dark thinking there were other relatives in N. CA that did not do a reverse Oregon Trail. Larry
