I have a Buffalo Bill rifle I am putting some fancy sights on. A MVA Beech style (also Lyman 5a style) front combination sight and a Williams FP target style receiver mounted Peep sight.
And I have a question. Should I place a piece of paper under the base to try to protect the bluing. Or since this rifle was bought to be a shooter and was before I got it not worry about it and put a drop of Loctite on the screws and be done with it?
Yes I am a little anal…………………………….I deal with it best I can LOL.

Mark,
Just make sure there are no burrs on any of the matting surface and use a blue locktite (medium strength) on the screws.

Thanks after I posted the question I realized having even a sheet of paper behind the sight mount could wick moisture behind it and cause much worse damage then the pressure from the sight mount.
So its all done and looks pretty good. Have to get out and do some shooting ASAP.
