Tim T, nice talking with you and meeting your son. That was one hell of a group on that target you showed me.
Too many wonderful WACA members to mention. Those of you that have never been to Cody, start making your reservations now. You’ll have a great time. You might even buy something too.
Bert hooked me into buying something no sooner than I had walked into the show. Or should I say ambushed?
I bought a few things that I couldn’t get on the plane so they went home with my friend from Montana. I will be getting a care package soon.
Talked cars with Randy Saba and Steve Emmert.
4 wonderful days of BS’n and lying.
I’ve attended the Cody show for over thirty years. Back in the “good old days” this show was close to top of the mark for me. It had dropped off dramatically in the past several years, in my opinion. Same guns, as the CGCA show and not much new stuff. Not even the crowd that we have had for many years. BUT, this show was awesome. New people, new guns and all tables were full to the max. I sold a good number of items and all things considered, I was VERY happy with the content this show had to offer and the number of dealers who attended. Sold a gun, bought a gun and several other items I always look for. I’m old, but plan to attend again next year, with even more smalls. Congratulations to Vinnie and crew and to Dave Thorn for the outstanding “Artifacts of the Custer Battlefield” talk at the banquet Saturday night. Wonderful job, Dave. I can say this without reservation, because Dave and I have been friends for almost 60 years and I know what a historian he really is.
For my first time at Cody, all I can say is, I’ll be back next year and have already paid for 4 tables and lodgings. Honestly, my best show ever…. lots of great stuff to see & buy. I was very pleased with the crowd, how knowledgeable they are and how serious they were about their guns and wanting to make them right. I learned what is being sought, now I will do my best to find & bring my very best next year… I wish all shows were like this and as well run! I was also pleasantly surprised when a slide & aperture showed up for my 1876 thick base, long range sight… thanks Tim! I will be sharing the proceeds when it finds a new home. Cheers!

Glad you had a good show, Ben, looking forward to seeing you next year.

As a Board of Director member and the WACA Historian, I (and the rest of the WACA Board) are very pleased with all the positive comments about the show.
I was also very pleased to meet & greet several WACA members that I had not previously met in person (Henry Mero, RatRodMac, Ben Tolson, just to name a few). It is always a great pleasure to get to know everyone who attends on a personal level, and to chat with all of the other members that I have known for years.
Lastly, it was really nice that Heather (our executive secretary) full filled her promise to have dognuts for me each morning!
Bert
p.s. due to a family emergency, I drove the entire 1064-miles home on Monday… 16-hours on the road with just one-stop stop for fuel in Haugen MT. My butt is very sore!!!

Hope everyone is home safe or getting close. It was a brutal 111 here in Valley View, TX when I hopped out to repair a machine on the way home. It was great seeing everyone and the guns were fun too!

Safe travels, great to see so many friends, old and new!

Nice talking with you. Hope we both can make Cody next year.
Vinnie told me the show was sold out a couple months ahead of time. Glad it’s coming back.
Good talking with you, too, Chuck. Yes, seemed like Friday was bigger than I’ve seen. Lots of members and lots of guests. Pretty exciting. Saw some shiny brass in my loading room a little while ago. May need to go see what it was.

I enjoyed the show as well, gents. Good to connect with many of you from the forum again and make a few new friends. I’m still not sure how 4 days go by so fast! Lots of great guns, outstanding displays and an enjoyable banquet. Bought a few items and sold even more.

Wow! if I knew they were “dog nuts” I would not have gone back for a 2nd one…..
Thanks Heather! 😉
P.S. Glad your family emergency was resolved, we were worried the whole trip home.

And, delivered 200 rounds of Lake City belted .50 BMG from the Denver (Greeley) show since the TSA wouldn’t allow it on the plane – Thanks again!
That is about 15 seconds ($1000) of fun in my ma deuce!

It sounds like a good time was had by all. Now to dig out from under all the paper.
Bert, it was my pleasure to make sure you received your “dognut.” Thanks for all the help you give me throughout the year. It hardly seems like a fair exchange.

Heather, thank you for helping me keep JK inline.
So….who kept you in line?
Mike
I too enjoyed the WACA show this year — my first time attending that show in several years. It was really nice to attach faces to some names, as I was able to chat with TXGunNut, Rat Rod Mac, Mark Douglas, Seewin, and BenTolson among others. JWA was kind enough to let me pull up a chair at his table, which was very much appreciated by this senior citizen with two artificial knees! I never did meet Bert, as every time I went by his table he was elsewhere enjoying the show, but Mike (TXGunNut) was very hospitable. (I just wanted to thank Bert for all his great information shared on this forum — so Bert, “Thank you!)
I also got to talk with Heather and Vinny Martin which was very nice. I like the Cody show better than all others, as it’s great to see so much vintage walnut and steel and NONE of the black plastic that seems to predominate at every other show.
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Cody again next year.

Tim you need to attend the collector type shows like Greely, CO. Vegas and Reno. All of these are in the West. Others can chime in on some mid west and eastern shows. Tulsa is a great show but they allow everything and I mean everything. Last year I was able to buy a few things that I had been looking to find for some years.
Thank you, Chuck.
Greeley would be one I could attend, but Vegas and Reno would be fairly long drive from Big Sky Country. I went to Tulsa a couple of times, and found the sheer size of that Wanamaker show fairly daunting. And as you say, they allow everything in there. It’s good to know other shows worth attending. Thank you!

Flying into Reno is pretty easy… especially on Southwest (2 free checked bags) Buy a sturdy, hard shell golf bag ($135.) and add a couple locks, Southwest counts it as one bag… pack a soft bag back inside the golf bag with your cloths, etc…. on the way home, put your new treasures in the golf bag, use some of your clothes as packing and check the soft bag too…. There’s a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel (Nugget Casino) they offer great show rates w/ discounted resort fee as well thru the shows webpage… if the discount is down online, they will still honor it if you call the hotel direct. Restaurants on site are ok…. You can do the same at the Las Vegas show, except their isn’t a hotel shuttle. The Westgate hotel has great restaurants.
Well here it is the 21st, evening, We just got in from the show, all in one piece. Near 4000 miles on the Harley, Brenda and I aren’t walking just quite right, and We have really dark tans, but oh my it was worth every mile. I was especially pleased to meet Mike Curtis, from New Zealand, and a few others I had not formally met, Bert, Gary, Mark and a few others. I did manage to find a couple of pieces to bring home, that would fit on the bike, an ’86 semi-deluxe t.d. and a Win. mod. 99, 1st one I’ve ever owned, thank you Don and Jan Grove. pdog72, I haven’t quit droolin’ yet. Vinny and Heather all I can say is “AWESOME JOB”. I couldn’t begin to tell You how pleased We were with the show/banquet, and the effort You folks put into it.
