I have a model 94 serial number 31497xx. It has a 16 inch barrel and a steel butt plate and no saddle ring. Could it be factory? Thanks,Chuck

Yes, know as Trapper carbine, was available in 30-30, .357 Mag., .44 Mag., and .45 Colt.

Call Browning. They have some information and if you get the right gal, don’t recall her name, she’s really helpful. Others act like they can’t be bothered.

If you search this site, you’ll find past discussion with the above information including her name. That’s all my rememberer will remember.

No difference, I think they made Trapper even as late as the early 90’s.

As far as I know, the manufacturing of Trapper model 94 begun in about January 1980, so a 16″ barrel on a 1968 gun can´t be factory original. Either it has been cut down or the barrel has been changed.
